If you know the sort of job you want, then you should develop a personal career statement.

A career statement has the advantage of creating a positive impression in an interviewers mind before you even meet.

Here are some examples:

• I am a highly motivated buyer with a proven track record of successful negotiating in technical and commercial settings
• I am a determined professional with experience across a wide range of insurance products. I am also experienced in both sales and marketing of new business and skilled in man amanagement.

The statement needs to be brief and powerful, highlting all of your 'trump cards'. Including skills from previous employment which, if left to be gleaned from your career history, would not be given the prominence they deserve.
